Now's the Time!

When picking out a tent or decor for your wedding, the last thing that comes to mind is a site inspection. After all who wants to think about the more practical elements of planning a wedding when there are chandeliers, linens, and drapery to pick out? However if you want your wedding to go off without a hitch, it may be time to think about those practical elements. So let’s talk about that site inspection. I know it may seem like an unnecessary step especially if you’ve quadruple checked the measurements and specifications for your tent or decor. However, there are a few reasons why you should let the experts take a look at your space before any final decisions are made.

Personally, I would make the argument that the most important reason to have a site inspection is peace of mind. When it comes to your wedding day, the last thing you want to worry about is whether or not the tent will fit. During the site inspection the professional event captain will be able to determine if any changes need to be made to your order. I would also say it’s a safe bet you never thought you’d have to consider what was under your yard. For a tent to be installed all underground utilities need to be marked off. However, don’t worry if you are unsure where these are, a Dig Safe inspection can be done free of charge - just give the Total Events team some notice!

So once we have the measurements done and the utilities marked off we still have to think about landscaping! Trust me, you do not want to call to have a tree removed the day of your wedding! Allowing for a site inspection at the location of your event, can ensure there are no pesky tree branches that may scrape against the top of the tent. It can also give you the heads up in case the ground needs to be leveled by a professional. By having the site inspection done, it gives the Total Events team an opportunity to troubleshoot any issues that may occur and to find a reasonable solution for everyone involved. At the end of the day the ultimate goal is to make sure your event is not only beautiful, but safe for your guests and the Total Events crew.

Site inspections are needed for decor too! Even though the likelihood of something as dramatic as getting a tree removed is unlikely, there are a few things that the event captain will look for in your event space. As with the tents, it is best to let the experts take the measurements to ensure all the decor ordered fits properly. They also take a look at the power supply to make sure there is enough for any equipment and lighting ordered. Even though dining in the dark is a growing trend, I’m sure your photographer would prefer the option to have some light. Having a site inspection for the decor ordered, ensures that the items enhance the space and achieve the desired look and feel.

So when is the perfect time to get your site inspection done? Why this month of course! Even though November may seem like one of the busiest times of the year with Thanksgiving and the beginning of holiday shopping, it is the perfect time to get your site inspection out of the way. It is one of the few times a year when the Total Events team can sit down for on-site consultations with a tent installer. Having the site inspection done early can also save you money! If you book before January 1st, it will lock you into the 2016 rates. Plus, if at your site inspection it is revealed that some landscaping services are needed, it’s often cheaper to get this done in the winter time.
