The Shaker Heritage Barn: Kelly & Kevin

For Kelly and Kevin’s September wedding, they chose the historic Shaker Heritage Barn. This charming venue is located right outside of Albany and to create this Total Events Transformation we worked with an amazing team of vendors.

When working at the Shaker Heritage Barn, we always work to enhance the historic beauty of the barn without taking away any of the charm. Kelly and Kevin had a more rustic vision, however, we wanted to add some glamour to the reception in the barn to match their overall wedding style. To accomplish this, we featured our crystal chandeliers, bistro lights, and draped the entrance way with chiffon. Amanda from Mazzone Hospitality noted the “creative use of the chandeliers and draping enhanced the rustic feel of the barn, allowing the focus to be on Kelly and Kevin, and their family and friends.”

The couple kept a neutral color scheme and their floral décor was organic and natural. The Samantha Nass Floral Design team created loose, garden-style bouquets with a mix of seasonal blooms which complemented Kelly's beautiful Pronovias dress from Angela's Bridal and the oh so fabulous bridesmaid dresses.

"We love working with textures and interesting blooms and when we found out that Kelly was going to create a one of a kind macrame, we jumped at the chance to design and build a custom arbor to frame it," said Samantha Nass. The one of a kind macrame was one of the highlights of the wedding. Their videographer, W Beyer Creative, said that it was one of the most memorable details of the day! “They were married in front of one of Kelly's handmade macrame art pieces. It was unlike any wedding arch we've ever seen! What we loved about it was that it made the backdrop to their handwritten, emotional wedding vows so unique to them and who they are as a couple. It also paired perfectly with the scenery style of the beautiful Shaker Heritage Barn. Little personal touches like that can really set a couple's wedding day apart and make it even more memorable.” As an addition to the rustic scenery, our vintage barn chairs were available for Kelly and Kevin’s guests during the ceremony.

To contrast the wood in the barn, the farmhouse tables were adorned with lush mixed foliage garlands by Samantha Nass Floral Design on chiffon runners and the roundtables had low lush ensembles in compote vases. The day had a relaxed yet elegant feel and all the components from the food to the décor worked in symphony at the historic venue.
