How do you keep an annual event exciting and fresh year after year? How do you make sure your themed event is a classy affair your guests will talk about for years to come? You call in the team at Total Events!

For the past ten years, we have been working with one of our clients on their annual holiday party for their employees. Over the years, the event has evolved from a traditional holiday party to a themed event that is not only exciting for us to plan and execute, but lets our client’s guests know that they are valued and appreciated. This year’s event was the most extravagant yet. Our client did not have a specific vision for the event, but Megan (Director of Events and The Greatest Showman enthusiast), envisioned The Greatest Showman theme. “She helps conceptualize a theme and each year we put our trust in her and her team to deliver and for 10 consecutive years, they have done just that and always above and beyond our expectations,”.

Mazzone Hospitality partnered with us on the event, they are the exclusive caterer at the Albany Capital Center. “It’s a fantastic thing, what they do for their employees, it’s what you have to do to engage talent, but more than just throwing an event, they threw an experience,” said Sean Willcoxon, COO of Mazzone Hospitality.

The Total Events team did what we do best and brought The Greatest Showman to life at the ACC with a Total Events Transformation. Because this event is so near and dear to our hearts, we brought in professional photography and videography to document the set up and final product.  Katherine from YTK Film and Video came to capture the madness and said, “I think that it is incredible to work with a company who has such vision, passion and attention to detail. Total Events truly creates experiences for their clients that are memorable and unique."

To transform the ACC into a circus, we started designing around a red and gold color scheme adding in white, black, and natural wood for neutral tones. It was important to make it glitzy, but also keep a vintage and upscale vibe throughout the event.  One of the design challenges we faced was creating a circus tent… in January… inside of a building… in downtown Albany…. In the end we set up two cabanas, one over the dance floor and the other over the lounge area. The circus tent feel was continued throughout the space with red chiffon drapery over the bar and custom weaved drapery on the stage.

The circus feel went way beyond the tent! Guests were greeted with custom balloon arches, circus prop cutouts, and a red carpet. Our team made sure that no detail was overlooked! Once guests arrived at their tables, they saw a mix of red and gold linens, sequin sparkle, farm tables, an abundance of candlelight, varied charger plates and centerpieces.

For this event, we wanted to go beyond a Total Events Transformation and really create an experience. “The guests felt like they were apart of something and transforming the space engaged people's senses for much more than just dinner and dancing,” said Sean from Mazzone Hospitality.
