Total At Home Friendor Edition: Katie O Brings It Home

In the Capital District wedding industry, we have several notable figures. Katie O’Malley and Casey Benson are the dynamic duo behind Katie O’ Weddings and Events. Obviously when we were brainstorming local superstars in the event industry to share their own holiday visions, Katie and Casey were at the top of our list for several reasons.  Beyond Katie’s 20+ years of industry experience, her newly designed Kenmore Ballroom and knowing how she loves to makes holiday's special for her own family - we asked Katie to visualize her perfect Thanksgiving table so that we could bring it to life.  We also asked her to sprinkle a little of that magic Katie dust on us in the form of wisdom to share when planning a more intimate event.

What inspired Katie:

"Comfort, family and togetherness.  We wanted a table top that felt warm and inviting, where you want to linger as you finish your glass of wine or coffee."

Mmmm, we couldn't agree more.  That might be our favorite development as we work on smaller events - the connection to one another.  Real conversations, more personalized attention, greater attention to small details - we often missed these things when events were on a much larger scale.  Seeing client and guest satisfaction hit a new high has been an amazing lesson for all of us.

Katie's tip for hosting an event at home:

"Be sure to prep before the day-of.  Take inventory, know what you have and be prepared for what you need.  And ice, always have extra ice."

We couldn't agree more!  Infact give yourself at least 1 business day between when you take inventory and when your event will be to make sure that if you are short something and need to get more that you have the option to.  There is nothing worse than realizing you are missing something or things just aren't going together like the vision in your head.  Luckily your local event rental business is always here to help!

Katie's favorite small event during this wild time.

"We loved working with a Covid-couple who decided to host an intimate wedding in their backyard for 50.  Our beautiful bride put her trust in us to create a formal but comfortable space for family and friends.  We loved creating this sweet "amphitheater" space to keep the intimate, cozy vibe and allow for extra seating after dinner."

Thank you, Katie and Casey for your time and creativity!

Stay tuned for a special announcement about how you can win this gorgeous table and a special Friendsgiving dinner with your friends!
