The Venue

Located in Latham, NY sits the historic Pruyn House, a stunning venue built in “high style”, with a combination of Federal and Greek Revival architecture, between the years 1825 and 1830. The house shifted from various owners until it was purchased by the Town of Colonie in the early 1980s to protect the property as a local historical site as well as serve as the town’s educational and cultural center. 

After extensive repairs, the property opened to the public in 1985 and has since grown with the additions of The Buhrmaster Barn and a carriage house to the estate, making the property a popular events venue in the Capital Region. Just minutes away from the Albany Airport and only a few minutes more to the heart of Albany, the Pruyn House’s central location serves as an ideal spot to host your next gathering and accommodate guests of all areas.

The Pruyn House itself is perfect to host smaller, more intimate gatherings, while the Buhrmaster Barn is set to hold cocktail parties or smaller wedding receptions. The beautiful flower garden kept on the property presents the perfect opportunity for a spring or summer outdoor ceremony and for events with a larger guest count. The Grove adjacent to the Barn poses as a perfect space to accommodate a large tent from Total Events that can be completely transformed to match any theme or color palette of your event. The venue also allows the flexibility for you to welcome any caterer of your choosing.

The Pruyn House is the perfect place to embrace the rustic feel of the venue in your decoration and we at Total Events would love to help you compliment the space with items from our inventory such as our wooden farm tables, wine barrel bar, unique charger plates, and bistro lights that look amazing hung from the barn beams. Similarly, the bistro lights as well as some of our other inventory pieces such as our lounge furniture may be set up in the Grove to create more seating areas for your guests to rest and connect with others during your event. 

Chiffon drapery surrounding the entrance to the Buhrmaster Barn is a must and you may add a touch of elegance as well with a chandelier or our signature drapery that accentuates the already tall ceilings and truly elevates the space. Our inventory of chairs in various colors, sizes, and materials presents an opportunity for you to upgrade the seating for your guests during the ceremony or in simply any area of your event. We can also provide a catering tent next to the barn, creating easy access for the catering team to efficiently serve the food to your guests.
